Bonatrans Group a.s., one of two approved suppliers of wheels for NYCT (New York City Transit), has repeatedly won the majority of the contract for their supply.
Materiálový a metalurgický výzkum (MMV) is also involved in the production of these wheels for one of the largest and busiest subway networks in the world, providing demanding material testing. Bonatrans will continue to supply wheels over the next two years. They will be used on trains manufactured by Alstom and Kawasaki, which serve Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.
MMV’s role in the project
Materiálový a metalurgický výzkum (MMV) acts as an independent testing body in the project. It performs tensile tests and fracture toughness tests at a temperature of 0 °C. Each material melt is subject to rigorous testing, and only after successful testing and the issuance of reports can the material be approved for further use in wheel production.
