Materials and Metallurgical Research (MMV) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SPP – distribúcia, a.s., a major operator of the gas distribution system in Slovakia. The document establishes a framework for future cooperation in research and innovation related to hydrogen technologies and testing of materials for hydrogen applications.

The cooperation will focus in particular on the development and validation of materials useful in the production, transport, storage and distribution of hydrogen, including scenarios where hydrogen is used in a mixture with other gases. Planned activities will also include research on the safe integration of hydrogen into the energy infrastructure and analysis of the impact of hydrogen on materials to ensure the long-term reliability of the plant.

The Memorandum is a framework document that serves as a basis for follow-up specific projects and forms of cooperation. It is concluded for a period of two years.

On behalf of MMV, the Memorandum was signed by Jakub Švrček, CEO, and Prof. Jozef Vlček, Director of Research and Development (R&D). On behalf of SPP – distribúcia, the document was signed by Martin Hollý, CEO, and Marian Sanitra, Director of Operations and Asset Management.
