First joint meeting of CirkArena project partners

On 25 and 26 March 2025, the first joint meeting of the partners of the CirkArena project – a centre focused on the development of the circular economy in the Moravian-Silesian Region – took place in Třinec. The project has long been prepared and implemented by the company Materiálový a metallurgický výzkum s.r.o. (MMV), which is its main promoter.

The meeting was an opportunity for mutual presentation of individual parts of the project and for sharing information between professional, academic and public institutions. It was attended by representatives of research, industry, state administration and local government.

The opening ceremony was led by the Executive Director of the MMV, Jakub Švrček, who introduced the meeting:
“We have been working on the CirkArena project at MMV for a long time, but the personal meeting with partners and supporters was an important point – it confirmed that there is a lot of interest in cooperation and professional dialogue on the topic of circular economy. Thank you to everyone involved.”

On the second day, Jan Rafaj, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, joined the launch and supported the vision of the project as a tool for the industrial transformation of the region.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic, the Moravian-Silesian Region, the Statutory City of Třinec and the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava.

The programme included expert blocks focused on architectural solutions (presented by architect Jiří Fiala), research content, technical background and international cooperation. Representatives of MMVVŠB – Technical University OstravaUTB in ZlínInstitute of Chemical Processes of the CAS and other institutions took part in the expert discussions.

The CirkArena project is the result of cooperation between a number of partners from the fields of research, education, education and public administration. In addition to the above mentioned institutions, it also involves CTUBrno University of TechnologyInstitute of Circular EconomySOBIC and the Czech Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry.

The joint meeting contributed to the consolidation of partnership cooperation and confirmation of the next steps in the implementation of the project.
