We have started the construction of a thermal battery prototype under the project TS01020110 – Research and Development of a High-Potential Thermal Battery.
The device is designed to store surplus electricity from renewable sources in the form of high-potential heat (above 1000 °C) and to release this energy later during periods of higher demand.
At present, five segments of the storage unit have already been built. The inner ceramic lattice has been installed, each segment has been insulated, and construction of the heating chamber is now underway.
The project is supported by the THÉTA 2 of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. The work is carried out by a consortium led by MMV, with ECOFER s.r.o., TECHNOSVAR a.s., and SMOLO a.s. as partners.
