Construction of CirkArena has begun in Třinec. A symbolic jersey exchange marked the start of a new phase of the project

Construction of CirkArena, a new research and education center focused on the circular economy, material processes, and modern technologies, officially began today in Třinec. The project is being built on the site of the former HC Oceláři Třinec ice hockey hall, and its launch was accompanied by a symbolic jersey exchange between forward Ondřej Kovařčík and Jozef Vlček from the CirkArena scientific team.

Representatives of the region also commented on the project. Governor Josef Bělica said that CirkArena represents an important step for the future of the Moravian-Silesian Region. Třinec Mayor Věra Palkovská noted that construction is scheduled to be completed in 2028 and called today an extremely important day for the entire city.

MMV representatives described the start of construction as a major milestone. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter. CirkArena is to be a place of cutting-edge research, education, and connecting people. The project is complex because it has many partners and different research areas have specific requirements. However, we know that it will bring long-term benefits to the region and Czech industry,” said Jakub Švrček, director of MMV.

The construction is being carried out by Metrostav, and the architectural design was created by Jiří Fiala, the author of the award-winning GolfArena. CirkArena will connect research institutions, universities, and technology companies and will offer space for experimental technologies, teaching, and the popularization of science.
