MMV and CirkArena Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Slovenia’s Kemijski inštitut

MMV representatives, led by Director of Strategy Alejandro Sanz Lara, visited the Kemijski inštitut in Ljubljana on the occasion of the opening of a new European center for carbon-free technologies. Both parties signed a memorandum of understanding and are preparing joint project proposals.

The new Center for Development, Demonstration, and Training in Carbon-Free Technologies was established in Kisovec near Zagorje ob Savi and focuses on two strategic areas – batteries and hydrogen. The first is based on the advanced chemistry required for the production of lithium-ion batteries, while the second focuses on the development of fine catalytic chemistry for sustainable hydrogen production. The Slovenian project, valued at 32 million euros, is 80 percent funded by the Just Transition Fund and is located in a region whose economy has been dominated by coal mining for decades. On this occasion, MMV and the Chemical Institute signed a memorandum of understanding. The focus of the collaboration is research into hydrogen production.
